If you’re searching for a reliable boat rental, Sailo deserves a look. We tested Sailo and put together this review to help you decide before you book a boat rental or charter a yacht.

Sailo has a vast selection of boat rentals, including powerboats, sailboats, yachts, and catamarans.

The entire Sailo experience is easy and hassle-free, from booking to boarding to an enjoyable time on the water.

We particularly liked the option of choosing from over 500 locations worldwide. You can enjoy the entire space and the complete privacy of the boat, including various amenities and services such as catering.

Sailo might be somewhat pricey, depending on the location and the boat. The weather cancelations are at the captain’s or boat owner’s discretion, although you can request it if you think that the weather is bad. Eventually, the captain will decide if the weather conditions are dangerous to be out on the water.

Overall, the massive selection of boats, the seamless experience, and the privacy make this a wonderful experience on the water. Most luxury cruise lines will charge you a similar or even higher daily fee per person without the privacy, flexibility, and custom options that Sailo offers.

In addition, Sailo makes the booking and on-water experience seamless by giving you direct access to the boat owners and to a free Sailo concierge.

Our Sailo Boat Rental Review:

sailo catering services set up

To help you decide if the Sailo boat charter is the right one for you, we looked carefully at major features like the rental experience, how the booking process works, what comes with the charter, and whether there are any extras.

We also tested how easy it is to communicate with captains. So what was our final verdict? Keep reading our Sailo review to find out!

Boat Types

Sailo has four boat types on the website that ranges from a 10-foot dinghy up to 450 feet yacht:

  • Motor boats
  • Sailboats
  • Catamarans
  • Party boats

Booking Process

You can easily search by location, dates, number of guests, boat type and size, price, captained or bareboat, and other relevant amenities, such as WiFi, to find the best boat for your needs.

Then you can proceed by either requesting to book, adding extras, or messaging the owner first without making a booking.

The Sailo website has good price transparency compared to its competitors, which was a big plus for us. Still, we recommend communicating with the prospective boat owner before submitting your booking request to clarify any questions you might have.

We highly recommend checking if the final grand total, includes all fuel bills, captain charges, and gratuities.

If you are interested in extra services like downtown or airport pick-up and drop-off, catering options, etc., then this is something you might want to discuss before booking.

Rental Experience

sushi and champagne

We rented a spacious motor boat for a day trip out of Miami for our small party. The boat owner was responsive and supportive throughout the booking process and made sure to answer all of our questions. Captain Jake and the entire crew were excellent.

We particularly enjoyed the professional catering service and the drinks reception at sunset. The whole experience was flawless, and we had a perfect day on a great boat.

Charter Locations

With Sailo, you can explore the top US boating destinations such as New York, Miami, Florida, California, or the Hamptons. You can also charter in the most popular Caribbean destinations, such as the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, and European destinations, like Portugal, Greece, Croatia, and more!

Extra Services

Sailo boat owners might offer various amenities and extras, which could range depending on the boat owner, from Downtown Pick-ups and drop-offs to dining, cocktail parties, and our favorite: chocolate-covered strawberries with champagne.
